Schedule: Full-Time Inpatient Setting
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our inpatient pediatric rehabilitation team. Under the direct on-premise supervision of a licensed physical therapist you will provide high-quality physical therapy treatment procedures to pediatric patients and contribute to a safe supportive therapeutic environment.
This role requires strong communication clinical judgment and a collaborative mindset to ensure optimal outcomes for children receiving care in our hospital.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties:Review medical records to understand diagnoses treatment plans precautions and therapy goals; clarify any unclear information
Deliver direct therapeutic interventions including gait training therapeutic exercises and modalities
Treat patients in all areas of the hospital including ambulatory settings
Assess patient responses to therapy and document progress in the medical record
Educate patients and families on home programs particularly regarding transfers and mobility
Notify supervising physical therapist of patient progress or concerns
Support care coordination including communication with care providers and tracking of medical equipment
Identify personal learning needs and pursue educational opportunities to maintain clinical competence
Participate in departmental mentorship and training programs
Attend relevant in-services and hospital education sessions
Fulfill all required departmental competencies
Maintain an organized clean treatment area and physical therapy gym
Ensure productivity standards are met and services are delivered efficiently
Actively engage in departmental planning meetings and initiatives
Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Pennsylvania State License as a Physical Therapy Assistant (required)
CPR Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
Pediatric inpatient rehabilitation experience required
Strong interpersonal skills for working with children parents peers and multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches based on patient response and needs
