Job Description
Staff Pharmacist Evening Shift
Location: Athena Medtech
Department: Pharmacy
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday 2:30 PM 11:00 PM
Hours Per Week: 40
Rotation: Every other weekend & every other holiday
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years
Licensure: Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island (RI)
Education: PharmD or RPh required
Preferred Background: Prior hospital pharmacy experience
Athena Medtech is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Department. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe effective and patient-centered medication management across the hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:-
Review and verify medication orders to identify prevent and resolve potential or actual drug-related issues.

Recommend formulary alternatives to prescribers when clinically appropriate.

Accurately compound and dispense medications in accordance with established protocols.

Provide comprehensive drug information and guidance to physicians nurses and patients.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize pharmacotherapy and improve patient outcomes.

Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians in medication preparation distribution and inventory management.

Participate in educational initiatives including serving as a preceptor to pharmacy students.

Float to other pharmacy units as needed to ensure consistent and efficient department coverage.

Valid and active Rhode Island Pharmacist license

PharmD or Bachelor of Pharmacy (RPh) degree

Minimum 5 years of professional pharmacy experience with hospital or acute care experience preferred

Strong knowledge of drug therapy interactions and hospital formularies

Effective communication leadership and problem-solving skills

Experience with EHR systems and pharmacy automation preferred
