Job Description
Job Title: Custodial Worker 2nd Shift
Client: TN School for the Blind
Location: Nashville TN
Shift: Monday to Friday 2:00 PM 10:30 PM
Job Overview:
The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking a dependable Custodial Worker (Second Shift) to ensure cleanliness sanitation and safety throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will help maintain a healthy environment for visually impaired students staff and visitors by performing routine cleaning duties and supporting general facility maintenance.
Responsibilities:

Perform daily custodial duties: dusting mopping vacuuming restroom sanitation and restocking supplies

Dispose of waste properly; empty trash cans and transport to dumpsters
-
Unlock and lock doors as needed for cleaning areas
-
Maintain custodial equipment and report needed repairs or low supplies
-
Follow safety protocols and promote a safe working environment
-
Assist with basic maintenance tasks (e.g. light bulb replacement moving furniture)

Provide vendor access and report any issues to supervisors
-
Participate in on-the-job training for new staff
-
Perform seasonal or project-based cleaning as required
-
Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
No prior custodial experience required (education may substitute for experience)
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
-
Familiarity with standard cleaning techniques chemicals and equipment
-
Understanding of safety practices related to custodial work
-
Ability to operate custodial machinery (e.g. buffers floor scrubbers)

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
-
Good communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to follow instructions manage time and maintain cleaning standards

Sensitivity to working in a school for visually impaired students
Additional Requirements:

Must pass TBI/FBI background checks (including child abuse records and references)

Must comply with State of Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace Policy
