This document provides the technical overview of IBM iSeries setup along with operational information that would be required to support the System on a day-to-day basis and perform the enhancement work. Objective for preparing this document is to capture comprehensive knowledge about IBM iSeries in a single place. Thus reducing effort of readers to refer multiple documents.

2. SERVICE OVERVIEW
Birlasoft provides following type of support for this service area
1. Access Issues To provide and manage access to the application
2. Monitoring various jobs internal to the system of concerned database.
3. JDE Database refresh
4. Backup management
5. Database Space management

7. Database performance issue troubleshooting and resolution
8. Server patching

10. Change Implementation in Production
11. Application Support Service Request Management
3. SUPPORT PROCEDURAL ACTIVITIES
Frequency Activity Description
Daily 1) Regular monitoring of the systems like CPU% Job MSGW ASP JOBQ SBS. 2) Daily Backup tasks like media check INZ media Execute / Monitor backups. 3) User requests on user profile management 4) Application issues involving i-Series troubleshooting. 5) Checking VIOS partition for errors. 6) Working alongside OEM / application owner to troubleshoot & resolve issues.
Weekly 1) Executing / Monitoring Weekly backups. 2) JDE application restart activity 3) Data refresh or restore (On request basis) 4) Partition and application restart (On request basis)
Monthly 1) Database Refresh Activity (On request basis). 2) Full system backup execution 3) IPL of system 4) Data management on system end (Journal file receivers spools etc. deletion) 5) HMC restart and console testing.
Quarterly 1) IBM i Patch management subject to need and approval 2) HMC patch management on BIOS / Fix updating
Annual Planned Activities like:- 1) VIOS Code Update 2) Server Firmware Update 3) OS upgrade. 4) HMC upgrade
Ad-Hoc
Activities 1) Data Archival 2) Disk Space Cleanup 3) Configuring New system for Test / Development purposes 4) Data migration from one system to another 5) Setting up new system from scratch 6) Reloading existing system from last full save
4. TROUBLESHOOTING
1) Troubleshooting will be done for IBM i setup from Administration and operation point of view. For any issues related to hardware OEM (IBM will be contacted).
2) For Data center related issue data center support vendor (Data center service provider will be contacted).
