Job Title: Powertrain Engine Calibration Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills MI
Job Description:
- The Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing the optimal engine calibration to meet drivability metrics along with ensuring optimal emissions and fuel economy.
- The engineer is responsible for the calibration maturity and development of sub features resulting in an overall optimal propulsion system.
- This spans the entirety of the lifecycle of development through conceptual phase strategy development calibration execution to subsystem and vehicle level validation including robustness evaluations.
- The responsibilities will be carried out across all different types of propulsion system concepts and will include varying levels of electrification.
- The work will coincide with a team of calibration engineers and functions to deliver system level functional objectives mainly related to emissions compliance.
- The engineer will plan and coordinate daily activities of propulsion dynos and vehicle related testing which may include collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers.
- In addition test plans and timelines will be developed and executed with reports generated to communicate status of the program to larger development and management teams.
Requirements:
Basic Requirements
- Obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
- Demonstrated 3 or more years of work experience in the area of spark ignition engine controls and calibration
- Strong familiarities related to engine system development including related technologies and subsystems such as combustion valvetrain fuel system boost systems EGR systems aftertreatment systems controls and its algorithm including diagnostics
- Feature calibration experience with exposure to optimizing drivability emissions and fuel economy
- Experience in launching applications meeting US based ACC/ACCII standards and regulations as well as ROW markets including (Enlarged Europe APAC LATAM)
- Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data providing meaningful summaries and next steps
- Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills and able to create and present information in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and management
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and ETAS/INCA
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
- 5 years of experience is preferred.
- DFSS green belt or higher
- Execution of Problem-solving techniques (RedX Six Sigma 3L5W Kaizen 5S)
Additional Must Haves:
- Onsite - 100% (Chelsea Proving Grounds)
- Yes required to drive Stellantis vehicle
- Travel up to 20% - primarily within the US
