Job Description

Job Title: Powertrain Engine Calibration Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills MI

Job Description:

  • The Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing the optimal engine calibration to meet drivability metrics along with ensuring optimal emissions and fuel economy.
  • The engineer is responsible for the calibration maturity and development of sub features resulting in an overall optimal propulsion system.
  • This spans the entirety of the lifecycle of development through conceptual phase strategy development calibration execution to subsystem and vehicle level validation including robustness evaluations.
  • The responsibilities will be carried out across all different types of propulsion system concepts and will include varying levels of electrification.
  • The work will coincide with a team of calibration engineers and functions to deliver system level functional objectives mainly related to emissions compliance.
  • The engineer will plan and coordinate daily activities of propulsion dynos and vehicle related testing which may include collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers.
  • In addition test plans and timelines will be developed and executed with reports generated to communicate status of the program to larger development and management teams.

Requirements:

Basic Requirements

  • Obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
  • Demonstrated 3 or more years of work experience in the area of spark ignition engine controls and calibration
  • Strong familiarities related to engine system development including related technologies and subsystems such as combustion valvetrain fuel system boost systems EGR systems aftertreatment systems controls and its algorithm including diagnostics
  • Feature calibration experience with exposure to optimizing drivability emissions and fuel economy
  • Experience in launching applications meeting US based ACC/ACCII standards and regulations as well as ROW markets including (Enlarged Europe APAC LATAM)
  • Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data providing meaningful summaries and next steps
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
  • Effective communication skills and able to create and present information in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and management
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and ETAS/INCA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
  • 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • DFSS green belt or higher
  • Execution of Problem-solving techniques (RedX Six Sigma 3L5W Kaizen 5S)

Additional Must Haves:

  • Onsite - 100% (Chelsea Proving Grounds)
  • Yes required to drive Stellantis vehicle
  • Travel up to 20% - primarily within the US
