Job Title: Long-Term Substitute 7th Grade English Language Arts
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Year: September 2025 TBD
Salary: Per Union Contract

North Haven Middle Schoolis seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for 7th Grade English Language Arts to cover a leave of absence beginning in September 2025. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management a deep understanding of middle school ELA standards and a commitment to student growth and engagement.
This educator will be responsible for delivering instruction aligned to curriculum standards assessing student progress and maintaining a positive inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and social-emotional development of all students.
Deliver daily English Language Arts instruction to 7th grade students
Implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum and state standards
Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment
Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments
Communicate effectively with students parents/guardians and staff
Collaborate with grade-level and department colleagues as needed
Manage classroom routines and student behavior in accordance with school policies
Provide meaningful feedback to students to support learning and growth
Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts (grades 58 or 612) or eligibility for certification
Prior teaching experience at the middle school level preferred
Strong knowledge of ELA curriculum and instructional strategies
Ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom culture
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to equity inclusivity and meeting the diverse needs of learners
Frequently required to stand walk sit talk and hear
Occasionally required to reach kneel crouch or crawl
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Visual ability to read and interact with students and materials at various distances
Typical school environment with noise levels ranging from quiet to loud
