Job Description

The Young Harris College Department of Business and Public Policy seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor full-time tenure track appointment or Instructor of Financial Planning full-time non-tenure track position. This position will serve as Program Coordinator for the financial planning minor and instructs assigned introduction to economics curriculum and upper-level financial planning courses related to the minor in Financial Planning. The role includes serving as a student advisor in the Business and Public Policy department. The candidate should be flexible collegial and have a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Strong written and oral communications skills are essential in addition to demonstration of qualifying graduate hours in studies related to accounting and financial planning. Holding the Certified Financial Planner credential is highly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordinator for CFP Board Registered Program in Financial Planning providing vision direction and administrative oversight for program.
  • Teaching assigned introduction to economics and upper level financial planning curriculum.
  • Advising for majors in the Department of Business and Public Policy and students pursuing the Financial Planning minor.
  • Institutional service through committee work.
  • Participation in professional development.
  • Provide insight and contributions to the vision direction and administrative support of the Department of Business and Public Policy.
  • Program assessment duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor (tenure track) must hold a terminal degree in finance financial planning or closely related degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution. The successful candidate at the Instructor level (non-tenure track) must possess an earned masters in finance financial planning or closely related degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution. Additional mandatory qualifications include all candidates demonstrating successful completion of a minimum of 18 graduate hours in financial planning or 18 graduate hours in a finance-related major. Candidates demonstrating completion of a CFP Board Registered Program in Financial Planning or currently possessing the CFP credential is highly preferred. Relevant professional experience in financial planning or related professions is also preferred. Demonstrated success in managing programs assessment college teaching experience advising students and active membership in related professional associations is also highly preferred.
