Job Description

Job Title:Library Assistant

Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Pay Group: P20 Salary Plan

Primary Purpose:Serve as instructional resource and materials specialist to principals teachers and incarcerated students. Assist with developing maintaining and organizinglibrary materials and equipment.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Experience:

Bachelorsdegree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE)

Three years full-time wage-earning clerical secretarial administrative support library or archival work experience.

Each year of experience in excess of the required three years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis.

This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Skill to interpret and apply rules policies and procedures.

Skill in the use of computers and peripheral equipment.

Ability to organize maintain and conduct inventory of library material.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Serve as instructional resource consultant and materials specialist to principles teachers and offenders.

4. Advise principal of library material equipment and instructional needs of the faculty.

7. Follow unit library procedures and regulations.

8. Supervise and train incarcerated student library clerks.

9. Maintain organize and supervise the circulation of library materials.

10. Prepare maintain and report appropriate unit records on circulation inventory newspapers and magazines.

11. Prepare and submit special reports as required by the Administrative Office.

12. Travel as required to provide library services if assigned to multiple facilities or to attend required meetings concerning library programs.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.

14. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information receivedin the performance of the job duties.

15. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily punctual attendance at location of work assignment.

16. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.

Environmental Demands:

Work inside and outside noise radiant/electrical energy work alone work with others around machines with moving parts and objects possible exposure to microwaves in use exposure to hot and cold temperatures exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
