Job Description

The Wilson School District is looking for a highly energetic and motivated Coordinator of Technologyto lead ourInformation Technology (IT) Department. Salary range is $65000 - $75000.

JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator of Technology is responsible for leading the districts technology vision and operations. This includes overseeing the technology team maintaining network infrastructure and systems and ensuring the strategic use of technology to enhance instruction and operational efficiency. The Director supports end-users manages cybersecurity and compliance supervises Help Desk operations and serves as a key advisor on integrating educational and administrative technology solutions aligned with district goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive district-wide technology plan aligned with instructional and operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with district and school leadership to support technology integration in curriculum assessment and operations.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance teaching learning communication and efficiency.
  • Promote and participate in ongoing professional development to remain current on technology trends and best practices.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide onboarding and continuous training for technology personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Infrastructure and Systems Management

  • Oversee and maintain the districts network infrastructure including servers switches wireless access internet and firewalls.
  • Ensure the reliability stability and security of district systems such as email SIS LMS and VoIP.
  • Administer and support cloud-based platforms (e.g. Google Workspace Microsoft 365).
  • Track and manage the lifecycle of all technology hardware including retirement of outdated devices.
  • Coordinate building-level tech projects and installations in collaboration with school staff.

Cybersecurity and Data Privacy

  • Implement and maintain strong cybersecurity protocols including data backups firewalls antivirus and intrusion detection systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with FERPA CIPA HIPAA and other applicable data privacy laws.
  • Conduct periodic audits and vulnerability assessments to protect district systems and data integrity.
  • Lead cybersecurity awareness efforts for staff and students.

IT Operations and Support

  • Supervise delegate tasks to and evaluate the performance of Technology Technicians.
  • Oversee the district Help Desk responding to and resolving escalated issues.
  • Create and manage network and software user accounts including student and staff access to learning platforms.
  • Provide end-user training on devices platforms and software applications.
  • Maintain the districts technology inventory system and ensure accurate asset tracking.
  • Manage the district website including content updates and functionality improvements.

Instructional Technology Integration

  • Support the effective use of educational technology in classrooms including devices software and instructional tools.
  • Coordinate professional development for staff on new technologies and systems.
  • Work with curriculum and instruction leaders to align technology use with academic standards.

Procurement and Budget

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Business Services to develop and manage the annual technology budget.
  • Oversee the purchase and deployment of technology hardware software and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Identify and pursue technology-related grants and funding opportunities (e.g. E-Rate).
  • Recommend and help implement district policies and procedures related to technology use and management.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or G.E.D

AA Degree

Two Years IT Experience

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Masters preferred

Experience: 5 years in IT with 2 years in leadership

CompTIA A Certification or equivalent

Prior experience in a K12 school district or public agency in IT environment

Experience supervising staff and managing budgets

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Windows operating systems network infrastructure and cloud-based tools
  • Office 365 (including administrative functions) and Google Workspace
  • Website content management systems VoIP and communication tools
  • Student laptop maintenance inventory systems and instructional tech platforms
  • FERPA CIPA HIPAA compliance requirements

Skilled in:

  • Troubleshooting technical issues across software and hardware platforms
  • Managing IT support tickets prioritizing tasks and delegating effectively
  • Accurate and efficient documentation and record keeping
  • Written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborating across departments to support diverse technology needs

Ability to:

  • Work independently while balancing multiple priorities
  • Train and support users with varying levels of tech proficiency
  • Integrate new technology solutions into daily operations and instruction
  • Foster a collaborative positive team environment
  • Recognize when to escalate issues for additional support or expertise

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix Arizona established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid-1930s to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and 16th Street to the west.
