Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Division of Soil and Water Conservation is seeking an individual to serve as an Agricultural Best Management Practice (BMP) Engineering Specialist. This position will provide technical assistance and support to Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs); perform design construction inspections and create as-built drawings for agricultural BMPs; review designs by SWCD staff for compliance with USDA-National Resource Conservation Service standards and specifications; and perform other duties related to the District Engineering Services Program.
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is the states lead conservation agency and it takes a diverse agency to conserve resources for a diverse commonwealth.

Possess Engineering Job Approval Authority (EJAA) issued by DCR for one or more conservation practices or be able to attain within 12 months of hire.
Ability to work in diverse conditions including exposure to the outdoors weather in all seasons dust animals and insects is required. Ability to perform heavy manual labor to include standing bending pulling climbing and frequent lifting up to 25 pounds is required.
Ability to travel daily with occasional overnight travel required.
