Job Description
SL Ranch in Stevensville is seeking a full time ranch hand to perform a variety of duties related to the production of hay and cattle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repairs and maintenance of equipment fences ditches headgates and pipes.
- Crop Management - identify irrigation needs for hay crops. Notify supervisor when hay is ready for harvest
- Operate haying equipment move and set irrigation pipes and guns. Identify and insure all pastures are sufficiently watered
- Daily feeding of livestock
- Care of chickens
- Snow plowing mowing weed eating as necessary and directed
- Calving-feeding tagging vaccinations general doctoring as needed
- Daily cleaning of dog kennels
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills Required:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Self starter highly motivated
- Ability to work long hours
- Must be proficient in the safe operation of all loaders tractors 4 wheeler vehicles power tools chainsaw etc
- Time management - ability to manage ones own time
- Must be reliable responsible and dependable
- Proficient on horseback and handling of horses and cattle
- Ability to identify sickness and/or lameness in horses and cattle
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
- Some framing knowledge a plus
- Roping ability a plus
- Clean driving record and background and drug test required
Most duties are performed outdoors and entail exposure to extreme heat cold rain and other environmental conditions
Summer irrigation schedule is Mon-Sat and calving schedule is 7 days a week
Approximate start date is July 1 2025
Compensation is DOE
