MAAS Group Holdings (ASX - MGH) is a multi-national conglomerate experiencing sustained growth across its key business units of Property Development Civil Works Plant Hire Construction Materials Electrical and Under Ground Mining & Tunnelling.
Your role:
As the Senior Town Planner you will be working within the Planning and Projects team contributing to the delivery of MGP Residential projects. You will be working in a fast-paced team orientated environment on a variety of projects across regional NSW for MGH. In this role you will have direct interaction with business stakeholders consultants and council throughout the entire development process from development concept to completion of works.
The Senior Town Planner Position is full time position based at Newcastle or Sydney. The position will require travel to various sites as required. The role is suited to an experienced planner (minimum 5 years) who has the ability to confidently manage external project teams and negotiate positive outcomes aligning with the objectives of each proposaland the MGP business unit desired outcomes. Previous/current experience from a consulting background would be favourable but is not essential.
Your daily duties would include:
Interpret relevant local and state government planning strategies policies directions and legislation
Undertake desktop site analysis and research in relation to relevant town planning provisions development opportunities and constraints
Prepare Statement of Environmental Effects co-ordinate supporting documentation and reports relating to proposed development
Co-ordinate fee proposals and supporting technical advice for various developments and their approval pathways including but not limited to DAs SWCs CDCs CCs and SCs.
Engaging with consultants to assist in the provision of advice and reporting deliverables on technical matters as they relate to the assessment of Development Applications in a manner that aims to achieve MGPs desired outcomes.
Design development documentation management of projects and their associated delivery as required
Experience in planning assessment and demonstrated ability to assess and analyse complex planning matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely way.
Ability to negotiate outcomes on applications with considerations to the applicant community needs and in consistency with the relevant planning provisions and legislation.
Negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and staff government agencies non-government organisations stakeholders and the community both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to build positive collaborative relationships and consult negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and staff government agencies non-government organisations stakeholders and the community both verbally and in writing
Review building and subdivision design documentation drawings and reports to ensure acceptable development in accordance with MGPs aims and objectives is being proposed
Ability to work independently while being able to manage competing priorities.
What youll require to succeed:
A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
Unrestricted Australian working rights.
Current Australian Drivers License.
Eligibility for membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
Reading and understanding technical drawings and diagrams.
Comprehensive knowledge of the NSW planning system and development assessment process.
Proficient oral/written communication skills including the ability to write complex and/or technical reports in plain English.
