Job Description

Director of Health Services and Registered School NurseBishop Fenwick High School is looking for a half-time (job share) or full-time trained and skilled Director of Health Services and Registered Nurse. Bishop Fenwick is a Catholic co-educational college prep school providing education for life. The Fenwick experience empowers students to seek and achieve excellence intellectually creatively physically morally and spiritually recognizing their responsibility to serve and to lead. Located in Peabody MA and operating independently in the Archdiocese of Boston Bishop Fenwick is a close-knit student-centered and character driven community that focuses on the whole person and forms life-long Director of Health Services and Registered Nurse reports directly to the Principal and the President. The Director works closely with the School and College Counseling Team the Athletics Office and the Administration. The Director works a 10-month calendar. This is a half-time job-share position. This could also be a full-time position depending on the Director of Health Services and Registered Nurse will advance Fenwicks mission by supporting the health safety and wellbeing of our students. Fenwick is committed to ensuring the physical health of each student and to providing a safe and nurturing community where social emotional and relational health are valued. Specifically the Director will provide skilled nursing care monitor and administer medications and collaborate effectively and intentionally with students families faculty staff and health care professionals to ensure the optimal health and wellness of our skilled nursing care and first aid to students with acute and chronic health conditions injuries and illnessesAdminister medications and treatments to students according to physician orders and school policies and proceduresConduct health assessments and develop individualized health care plans for studentsMonitor students with special health care needs including students with diabetes asthma allergies and other medical conditionsRespond to medical emergencies and provide immediate intervention and assistance as neededCollaborate with school personnel parents and healthcare providers to develop and implement accommodations and modifications to support students health and educational needsEducate students families faculty and staff regarding health promotion disease prevention and safety practicesMaintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulationsParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings and other school-related meetings as needed particularly with School/College Counselors and DeansStay informed regarding current health care trends best practices and evidence-based interventions in school nursingAdhere to professional standards of practice code of ethics and legal regulations governing nursing practice in the school settingQualificationsAs the point person for the physical health and wellness needs of students the candidate will have:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited programRegistered Nurse (RN) license in the state of MassachusettsCertification in CPR First Aid and AEDMinimum of two years of experience working as a Registered Nurse preferably in a school or pediatric settingKnowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing school health servicesExcellent assessment critical thinking and decision-making skillsStrong communication interpersonal and collaboration skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamCommitment to promoting health and wellness and advocating for the needs of studentsCandidates who meet these criteria should send a cover letter statement of college guidance philosophy rsum a writing sample and three current references to: with Director of Health Services in the subject line of the email. .
