POSITION PURPOSE:
Lead Mechanics act as subject matter experts and perform service repair and maintenance of heavy equipment used for the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project at the Moab site including but not limited to heavy duty trucks and trailers bulldozers excavators forklifts water trucks dump trucks backhoes trailers and small engines. Lead Mechanics under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor coordinate and direct equipment repairs and maintenance activities at each site. The work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge and specific certifications that denote expertise in heavy equipment maintenance and repair. This position includes oversight of mechanics/oilers performing more routine and simple tasks. Lead Mechanics are responsible for more complex assignments and repairs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work in different types of personal protective equipment (Tyvek etc.) while performing various tasks/activities (e.g. climbing walking stopping etc.) in different work environments (e.g. cold heat etc.). Physically able to perform job tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs alone.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position will work primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
