Job Description

School and Social Emotional Learning Counselor (Grades 9-12)Malden Catholic a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Codivisional 7-12 School for young men and women seeks a candidate for a School Counselor-Social Emotional Learning position for the 2025-2026 school year. This position plays an integral role in supporting the emotional well-being and healthy development of our students by assisting them in areas of personal and social growth academic achievement and appreciation of spiritual and cultural Degree and Educators License in School Guidance Counseling and/or School Adjustment Counseling of 2-3 years of experience in High School Counseling or Adjustment CounselingWillingness to support the Catholic mission of the Communication & Presentation SkillsSelf-Motivation Flexibility Ability to Work as Part of a School Counseling Team and Motivate StudentsDescriptionThe School and Social Emotional Learning Counselor will:Perform as part of a comprehensive school and college counseling department. Advise and counsel students regarding academic educational college/career and social and emotional individual and group counseling to help students build skills coping strategies and develop resilience to manage academic personal social emotional and situational barriers to student academic social/emotional progress and provide interventions as needed to ensure academic immediate support and intervention in crisis situations including mental health crises family emergencies and other urgent issues. Perform risk and implement crisis intervention plans and coordinate with external mental health professionals when necessary. Participate in student re-entry meetings to ensure transition and collaborate with school staff families and outside agencies to develop plans to meet student students to appropriate community resources and providers as students in areas of mental health awareness including healthy relationships conflict resolution self-esteem substance use and other the Catholic values of the Catholic encourages all members of the staff to be involved in the life of the school beyond the classroom supporting the wide range of co-curricular intramural and interscholastic programs we Catholic located seven miles north of Boston consists of grade 7-12 students drawing from over 40 communities.
