High School Social Worker
(10 month position annually)
The Environmental Charter School is seeking a highly dedicated and motivated individual for our school. Successful candidates must be progressive minded and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. The Environmental Charter Schools faculty and staff are passionate talented and uncompromising with a mission to make sure all students succeed at a high level. Every aspect of our organization and program is designed and continually refined to ensure that goal. Our work is student-centered constantly improving and reflective. ECSs progressive approach to education challenges faculty to take risks. We strongly value collaboration and recognize the power of systems thinking. Our high achievement scores long waiting lists (nearly 200 students in kindergarten alone!) and unique location in the city of Pittsburgh serve as a model in environmentally-focused education.

By using environmental content as a lens for instruction ECS provides students a context in which to explore ideas and observations to practice inquiry and to actively problem solve. Throughout their academic career at ECS students build core skills across all disciplines and then actively apply these skills to support the impact of learning.

OVERVIEW
As a member of the schools Student Services team the School Social Worker helps to ensure that supports are in place to ensure each childs success. This includes but is not limited to family engagement for school-based support collaboration with community agencies in securing needed resources for unhoused students and families participation in school-wide support teams and collaboration with school administration. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.

Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with families to develop a supportive home-school relationship
- Help families and students access school and community resource
- Conduct home/community visits with families
- Communicate with outside service providers including short-term mental health placements and drug/alcohol treatment center
- Collaborate with staff and families to make referrals for mental health support
- Support families to ensure that student basic needs are met and families are connected to appropriate resources
- Respond to student or family crisis situations as needed with appropriate urgency
- Complete student safety/suicide risk assessments and threat assessments as needed responding with appropriate urgency
- Act as a mandated reporter and complete or support other staff in completing Childline reports in response to allegations of abuse as needed
- Provide individual counseling group counseling and check-in support to students
- Develop classroom behavior and student intervention plans in conjunction with school counselor school psychologist and teachers
- Collaborate with student services administrators staff and school-based team
- Participate in SAP MTSS Crisis Team and IEP meetings and other school-based teams
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Masters degree in social work from an accredited institution
- Current license as a social worker (LSW) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in PA
- Minimum of 3-5 years school social work experience preferred
- Familiarity with charter schools and high school-aged students
Compensation and Benefits
- Minimum starting salary of $47263 with consideration given for prior relevant experience
