ATS is seeking afull-timeRadiation Safety Officer (RSO) for our subsidiary company Radiation Test Solutions Inc. This fulltime / onsite opportunity is located in Colorado Springs CO.

About Radiation Test Solutions Inc: Radiation Test Solutions Inc. (RTS) specializes in the design analysis and testing of semiconductor devices and materials for satellite aircraft and ground applications in both natural and man-made radiation related environments.

Position Summary: This role acts as the principal technical and administrative resource for radiation safety security and compliance with local state and federal regulations. Advises senior leadership on strategies and tactics relating to the technical and regulatory direction. Develops plans coordinates and manages radiation safety programs including the implementation of those programs to ensure the safety of our employees and visitors. Ensures radiation safety program compliance with applicable company policies local state and federal regulations. Serves as primary contact for CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment) inspections applications and all other regulators.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the companys radioactive sources ensuring compliance with the state and federal laws policies and regulations.
  • Oversees all facets of the security measures associated with operating and owning radioactive sources.
  • Interprets new and existing regulations advises leadership on technical and regulatory issues regarding the strategic direction of the radiation safety program and applies strategic measures as appropriate.
  • Oversees the review of radiation human-use and exposure to ensure proper disclosure of radiation exposure and ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations.
  • Responds to radiation safety emergencies and prepares and submits required reports.
  • Oversees the use of radioactive materials at the company through the management of radioactive materials licensing radiation laboratory surveys and radioactive waste management programs.
  • As required creates and submits to management for review radiation licenses submits applications to the local state or Federal agencies as required to obtain or renew licenses.
  • Manages our radiation safety training program to ensure that only authorized qualified individuals work with radioactive materials; manages the personnel dosimetry program to limit radiation exposure to radiation users to ensure compliance with the companys policies and regulatory exposure limits.
  • May propose and create new programs in the area of radiation safety including research of regulations process development development of SOPs and implementation.
  • Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings committees and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Assists with the testing and exposure of electronic devices whenever possible and time permits.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:

Previous training as an RSO or relevant certifications is required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to develop plan and implement short- and long-range goals.
Knowledge of federal state and local radiation safety regulations protocols and/or procedures.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Knowledge of budgeting cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.

  • The applicant must successfully complete a background investigation and obtain a designation of Trustworthy and Reliable (T&R) in accordance with NRC and CDPHE requirements
  • Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • Work from heights on scaffolding ladders elevated platforms man-baskets etc.
  • Work in confined spaces which will require crawling stooping climbing etc.
  • Work in around operating equipment and industrial environments.
  • Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners penetrants film developing chemicals etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
