Provide overall leadership for the sports program including recruiting skill instruction student-athlete development budget management and developing a competition schedule. Promote a philosophy of educational welfare sportsmanship and conduct in alignment with the Universitys mission. Successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead a program with a tradition of academic and athletic excellence preparing students to be productive people in a dynamic world.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for organizing and directing all aspects of the mens and womens golf programs. Administer all phases of an NCAA Division I golf program. Coach teach and assist in the development of players during practices and competitions. Develop and supervise the student-athletes in the golf program by implementing strategies to motivate maximum levels of individual and team performance. Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
Develop and organize recruiting records logs and contact information for a sports program per NCAA regulations. Recruits student-athletes and supports future athletes through the admission process Monitors academic progress of athletes to ensure player eligibility. Demonstrates game techniques and recommends player position assignments. Participates in the pre- and post-workouts.
Schedule non-conference games in competitive season. Create long term player development including technical tactical and physical development of individual players. Organize prepare and supervise all training practices and game day contests. Responsible for working with athletic administration to place orders for all equipment apparel and gear.
Work with the assigned sport administrator to schedule and coordinate all travel to practices and tournament competitions. Maintain responsibility for budget control by adhering to operational budgets. Hire supervise and assign responsibilities of the assistant coach. Undertake public relations and promotional activities appropriate to the position to promote the golf team.
Promotes athletic programs through community events fundraising public speaking and marketing Teaches fundamentals and strategies of assigned sport at the collegiate-level. Adhere to all Prairie View A&M University policies guidelines Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree
Five years of coaching experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of and experience in recruiting and coaching at the collegiate level.
