Job Description

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the material flow to meet customer orders while balancing cost production and inventory. Additional responsibilities include: providing a production schedule that meets demand with the overall objective of maximum customer satisfaction lowest cost of production and control of inventory to optimize turns and purchasing of raw materials in the most cost-effective manner with due consideration for price quality specifications and other general requirements.


Essential Accountabilities

  1. Maintains accurate Master Production Schedules to meet customer demand by managing the planning fields and settings within our Oracle Cloud SCP system.
  2. Sets up the Oracle planning fields and settings so raw materials can be procured through MRP.
  3. Keeps all Oracle field settings up to date and accurate.
  4. Schedules and tracks factory work orders to achieve the Master Production Schedule while balancing the load of individual machines and machine work centers.
  5. Work with Manufacturing on staffing and overtime needs in order to meet the Master Production Schedule.
  6. Place and track purchase orders to achieve the Master Production Schedule arranging for the delivery of materials in the most cost-effective manner.
  7. Monitors and maintains the rolling 12-month capacity load by work center to most accurately highlight any constraints or addition equipment needs.
  8. Communicate supply / demand issues and resolution status to Director Supply Chain.
  9. Reviews and analyzes inventory levels for the items they are buying/making through the Supply Days report to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.10.Expedites materials processes & people to meet customer demand.

  11. Performs root cause analysis on a minimum of 90% of all service issues and shortages that lead to service issues. Then based on the findings implements corrective actions.
  12. Assist engineers with identification of changes needed on BOMs routings item masters and obsolescence by initiating engineering change requests.
  13. Minimize the cost of buying transporting and storing purchased materials and services.
  14. Review and supply corrected information for Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies on vendor invoices.
  15. Responsible for inventory turns management and continuous improvement.
  16. Actively review inventory status to avoid obsolescence of materials.
  17. Responsible for focusing on continuous improvements in relation to cost service inventory and processes.
  18. Other projects and processes as defined by Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Business Administration Operations Management Supply Chain Management or related field. Minimum of 3 years experience in production scheduling / purchasing experience in an MRP II system. APICS certification preferred.


Desired Skills

Experience in purchasing/production scheduling and/or general materials planning experience in an ERP system

Knowledge of manufacturing and production planning

Sound knowledge of varied production and quality assurance operations

Fundamental understanding of ERP requirements and processes
