Job Description
Ohio University Zanesville invites candidates for an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Nursing (non-tenure track) available August 16 2025 with an emphasis on instruction including clinical and/or labs. This is a full-time 9-month position with a workload if 90% teaching and 10% service components. The position reports to the Associate Director of Nursing for the Zanesville campus. Successful candidates will be expected to provide didactic clinical site and/or laboratory instruction to BSN and associate degree student learners for medical-surgical and other learning experiences consistent with the relevant course objectives. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 1) Meeting with course faculty to develop course expectations for students. 2) Identifying students needs in terms of clinical and laboratory objectives of the relevant course. 3) Providing instruction to students in the classroom at clinical sites and/or in laboratory settings to acquire professional attitudes knowledge and skills. 4) Assisting students in the development and application of clinical decision making. 5) Using varied and appropriate clinical teaching methods effectively. 6) Measuring and describing the quality of clinical performance objectively. 7) Collaborating with course faculty to effectively evaluate student performance. Successful candidates will be required to be on campus and/or at regionally located clinical site assignments throughout the academic year (August May). Other teaching assignments/instructional responsibilities may be considered based on candidate expertise and/or credentials. All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to engage in the planning implementation and evaluation of student instruction collaboratively and actively and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met. Service activities will occur within the School of Nursing ( SON ) the College the Regional Campus and the discipline of nursing. Service activities will include but may not be limited to SON committees special assignments active participation in professional groups and relevant community activities. Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a Masters of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required. An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio RN license is required. Must have Ohio RN license prior to start date. Licensed as an RN in the United States for a minimum of two years is required. A minimum of two years (24 months full time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of clinical RN experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching clinicals and/or lab instruction in a nursing program is preferred.
