Purpose of PositionThe Color Guard Coach is responsible for fulfilling the mission of Des Moines Christian School by equipping the minds and nurturing the hearts of students through their physical emotional mental and spiritual development. The coach leads all aspects of the program and works in close partnership with the band director and staff to ensure the color guard is fully integrated into the marching bands visual : Part-time Seasonal- According to seasonStipend PayReports To & Evaluated by: Head of ActivitiesQualifications:High School diploma or Guard or related coaching experience believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with Him. In agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Statement of agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Biblical Convictions for Christian attends and is actively involved in a church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy (doctrine faith teaching practice) consistent with the DMC Statement of Faith through that churchs public creed confession core beliefs or statement of faith. Characterized with integrity and maintains confidentialityUtilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with diverse groups including teachers students administrators and consistent spiritual leadership. Attends coaching clinics that would be beneficial to the effective communication with participants parents and to school policies regarding student eligibility and/or code of conduct :Demonstrates leadership in all phases of the color guard program in collaboration with the band director and other staff members to integrate the color guard into the marching bands overall visual trusting productive relationships with students to create a safe positive and productive team all rehearsals performances and summer band and teaches routines for the color guard including flag other equipment manipulation dance movement and and trains students in the proper techniques and skills necessary for successful the color guard in rehearsals ensuring they are ready for competitions and effectively with participants parents administration and the participants are supervised properly during and after practices performances and competitions. Collaborates with the Head of Activities (HA) for program purchases and equipment needs. Coordinates with HA and facilities team in the proper care and management of facilities and to the policies and practices outlined in the DMC Coaches other duties as assigned by the HA.
