The HNS Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Specialist position will work on deadline-driven division and state-wide critical projects related to Summer EBT (SEBT) that occurs cyclically throughout the year and require extensive coordination and access of ADE data systems from multiple areas of Health and Nutrition and other divisions at ADE. This position will verify the accuracy of data reported by schools and received from the Department of Economic Security (DES) to ensure data accuracy process household Summer EBT benefit applications and provide technical assistance to both internal and external customers.
Rare in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.
Reviews and makes program eligibility determinations based on submitted household applications
Conducts income verification of household applications using prescribed United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations and requirements
Manages content in Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT) SFA management portal. Serves as content expert on SEBT technology systems data and program requirements to support school food authorities
Assists the SEBT Lead Specialist with creation and validation of data sets for processing of single payment to eligible children ensuring all eligible household applications are processed timely and submitted to the Arizona Department of Economic Services for processing of payments as prescribed by the requirement of the Summer EBT program
Acts as call center backup providing support to the SEBT Program Project Specialist during high volume call periods and absences
Manages household application and verification data to support eligibility denials in case of appeals
Assists the SEBT Team Lead with conference calls and fair hearings
Knowledge in:
Federal Nutrition Assistance Programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Child Nutrition Programs and Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
Federal regulations state laws and policies pertaining to all Child Nutrition Programs
National and local legislative and health and nutrition program issues
A Bachelor degree and/or or multiple years of experience working with federal nutrition assistance programs to substitute for a degree is required
