About the Victim Compensation Services Unit
The Victim Compensation Services Section is composed of two mandated programs Crime Victim Compensation and Rape Victims Assistance. Crime Victim Compensation Commission (CVCC) reimburses citizens who suffer medical expenses and lost wages as a result of being an innocent victim of a crime committed in North Carolina according to NCGS Chapter 15B. Victims of rape assault child sexual abuse domestic violence and drunk driving as well as the families of homicide victims are eligible to apply for financial help. Rape Victim Assistance provides free forensic medical examinations for victims of rape or sex offenses according to NCGS Chapter 143B-1200.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that the program is operating as outlined in appropriate statutes and division policies and procedures. The major purpose is to provide support to the North Carolina Crime Victims Compensation Commission (NCCVCC) by processing claims for the Crime Victim Compensation Program and submitting correspondence to victims claimants management and the NCCVCC .This position provides direct services by receiving calls from victims claimants providers and other individuals assisting with determination of compensation eligibility and completing compensation applications. The position requires direct communication with various individuals within the organization including the Director Commission Members and legal staff. Duties include:
Responding to issues regarding victims and claimants requests to appeal claim determinations.
Providing information regarding the appeal process.
Prepares documents to be submitted to the Attorney Generals office.
Taking minutes of Commission meetings and transcription from a recorded tape of the meeting.
Prepares compensation determination letters when a decision is rendered.
Filing.
Determine eligibility of compensation expenses submitted under the Crime Victim Compensation Program.

Management Preferences:

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience;
