Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision installs test and maintain building systems for the distribution of data and telecommunications services throughout the SC Department of Corrections.
Establish a cable or wiring path for the infrastructure of SCDC buildings and institutions.
Perform the installation moves and changes of data and telecommunications equipment.
Assists users in the proper operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
Perform emergency repairs to damaged data circuits and telecommunications cables troubleshoot equipment and systems to locate faults and ensure prompt repairs.
Replace equipment when needed.
Maintain required materials and equipment.
Prepare and submit all required reports in a timely manner.

- State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelors degree in information technology systems computer science or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).- Five (5) years experience in design and implementation of telecommunications systems.
- Knowledge of data communications equipment maintenance repair modification design circuitry and testing equipment.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina Drivers license.
