Who we are
Ballys Corporation is a global casino-entertainment company with a growing omni-channel presence. It currently owns and manages 15 casinos across 10 states a golf course in New York a horse racetrack in Colorado and has access to OSB licenses in 18 states. It also owns Ballys Interactive International formerly Gamesys Group a leading global online gaming operator Bally Bet a first-in-class sports betting platform and Bally Casino a growing iCasino platform.
With 10600 employees the Companys casino operations include approximately 15300 slot machines 580 table games and 3800 hotel rooms. Upon completing the construction of a permanent casino facility in Chicago Ballys will own and/or manage 15 casinos across 10 states. Ballys also has rights to developable land in Las Vegas post the closure of the Tropicana. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol BALY.
Ballys Media operates the Bally Sports Live and Stadium sports streaming services. Bally Sports Live is a free live streaming app that allows sports fans to engage with their favorite events in real-time while fostering interactive fan communities and earning rewards for activities. Stadium a joint venture between Ballys and Silver Chalice
(owned by Jerry Reinsdorf who also owns the Chicago Bulls and White Sox) is a free advertising-supported streaming (FAST) sports network distributed through partners such as Samsung TV Plus Amazon Fire TV and Prime Video Tubi YouTube TV DirecTV and Fubo. Sports and events that Bally Sports Live and Stadium broadcast include Minor League Baseball Savannah Bananas Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship GLORY Kickboxing AVP Pro beach volleyball as well as betting shows.
Well what about the team
The team is responsible for the development and delivery of the Bally Sports LIVE & Stadium streaming video platform. We are looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer with a passion for building high performance visually engaging Android applications. You will be responsible for developing cutting-edge features for both video streaming apps and interactive games using Kotlin Jetpack Compose and Firebase while shaping architecture tooling and performance optimization across projects.
So what will you be doing
- Lead the development and delivery of Android applications with a focus on live video streaming and game mechanics.
- Manage scalable and modular components using Jetpack Compose and modern Android libraries.
- Integrate and optimize video playback and real-time communication tools (e.g. WebRTC or Firebase).
- Implement Firebase services for feature flag toggle capability.
- Familiarity with Datadog and Crashlytics for logging monitoring and incident response workflows.
- Collaborate with product managers UI/UX designers and backend engineers to define and implement intuitive features and interactions.
- Develop build and release pipelines using Gradle and maintain GIT and CI/CD processes.
- Champion Android best practices around performance offline-first design battery/network optimization and accessibility.
- Champion and contribute to code reviews architecture decisions and internal documentation.
And what are we looking for
- 5 years of Android development experience with at least 3 years using Kotlin professionally.
- Expert in Jetpack Compose ViewModel Navigation Room and other Jetpack libraries.
- Strong experience with video streaming and media playback.
- Solid understanding of Gradle including custom plugins and performance tuning.
- Proficient in integrating and managing Firebase services across multiple app modules.
- Experience with mobile game development (e.g. mini-games gamification mechanics or full games) using Android-native tools or hybrid engines.
- Strong debugging profiling and performance analysis skills (memory leaks rendering time etc.).
- Familiar with asynchronous programming patterns (Coroutines).
- Comfortable working in agile environments and collaborating across time zones.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of Android TV or casting protocols like Google Cast.
- Knowledge of video DRM offline media storage and adaptive bitrate streaming.
- Experience working with video encoding/decoding or adaptive streaming (HLS).
- Understanding of design systems and accessibility standards.
