Job Summary
This position will report to the Director of Research Development Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ). Applicants: use your skills in another waywork in a collaborative positive Research Administration environment. Be part of a team dedicated to supporting Huntsman Cancer Institute an NCI -designated Comprehensive Cancer Center to maximize its potential excellence and trajectory toward future goals. Huntsman Cancer Institute is committed to cancer prevention care and survivorship for all communities within the area we serve which includes Idaho Montana Nevada Utah and Wyoming with impact worldwide. This may include description of your prior experiences related to research prevention clinical care community engagement/outreach training administration or other areas relevant to Huntsman Cancer Institutes mission and this position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Aid teams of faculty researchers in the development and management of multi-project grant proposals and other grants of institutional importance to HCI . Participate as a member of programmatic teams acting as needed as: shepherd/scheduler/stage manager/coach/editor/contributor. Independently manage development of multi-project grant applications. Provide scientific writing and editorial review of grants and other narratives with the goal to produce top-quality final products that meet or exceed the guidelines and objectives of funding agencies. Support writing of honorary award nominations for HCI faculty. Address writing/editorial/analysis needs of the HCI Comprehensive Cancer Center Executive Directors office and HCI as assigned. Develop and maintain an awareness of HCI strategic goals and accomplishments through participation at relevant meetings seminars retreats and strategic planning events. Participate in strategic planning activities as assigned. Potential for supervisory role. Essential Characteristics: Intelligent creative perceptive; analytical conscientious hardworking. Self-motivated and independent. Experience in working with teams of faculty scientists in a university setting. Broad grasp of modern science techniques and approaches. Experience in preparing grant applications and scientific writing. High professional standards strong attention to detail organized. Spots problems and proactively works to craft solutions. Can work under a deadline possesses coping skills. Displays integrity patience and discretion. Extends and receives criticism and feedback thoughtfully. Has a positive attitude; is approachable and generous. Admires and is committed to the goals of HCI . This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients. Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required Nearly Continuously: Office environment. Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Sitting hearing listening talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing) walking. Seldom: Bending reaching overhead.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree two years of related experience or Bachelors degree six years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
