Mechanical Project Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead and deliver complex mechanical engineering projects within the education public works water/wastewater transportation transit government and aviation sectors. The ideal candidate will be motivated to excel in a consulting engineering environment embracing challenges as opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and deliver all project objectives including planning scope schedule budget and quality assurance
- Lead and perform engineering calculations and assessments for mechanical system designs (HVAC plumbing fire protection industrial ductwork refrigeration hydronic systems air handling and central thermal plants)
- Conduct and lead field investigations HVAC load studies energy modeling and code reviews
- Manage quality control for mechanical/plumbing design documents including drawings and specifications
- Supervise and mentor junior engineering staff and review their design outputs
- Coordinate project designs with client specifications and ensure compliance with local city and state codes including permitting processes
- Navigate and resolve complex design and construction challenges in collaboration with Owners Architects and Contractors
- Monitor project schedules budgets accounts receivable and manpower requirements
- Develop and maintain project management plans pricing budgets and schedules
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams including internal staff and external subconsultants
- Participate in client presentations coordination and business development efforts
- Provide leadership and continuous performance management to project team members
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited University program
- Minimum 12 years of specialized experience in mechanical engineering specifically designing and specifying HVAC and plumbing systems of varying complexity and size
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of Revit AutoCAD and building load simulation software (preferably IESVE and Carrier HAP)
- Strong understanding and application of building energy mechanical and plumbing codes
- Ability to pass the companys motor vehicle screening
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commissioning certifications such as CxA BCxP
- Project management certifications such as CAPM or PMP
- Experience working with local state and federal clients
- Familiarity with multiple project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build Design-Build P3)
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience in industrial mechanical/plumbing systems and fire protection design
Working Conditions:
- Approximately 95% office-based work with occasional field visits under various weather conditions
- Sedentary work with occasional standing walking and lifting (up to 25 lbs) as required
