A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues todevelop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition intopractice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listedbelow.
Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus takingownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision makingand critical thinking and patient safety.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care: Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practiceknowledge the nursing process critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individualsacross the lifespan and care continuum.
2. Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication: Learns to collaborate and communicate with theinterprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desiredpatient outcomes.
3. Leadership: Develops accountability for own practice delegated care and the coordination of care delivery.
Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues and maintains respect trust and dignity.
4. Professionalism: Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for theprofessional development of self.
5. Attainment of Core Competencies:

l. Nursing Assessment and Care: Basic understanding of and ability to assess ailments and injuries ofpatients and implement a treatment plan.
m. Decision-Making and Critical Thinking: Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-makingprocess and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reachproductive decisions based on informed judgment.
n. Clinical Skills: Basic understanding of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care taking therapeutic planning and monitoring etc. to achieve optimized outcomes in medicationtherapy and clinical treatment.
Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training:
Must meet the requirements of the year long program including preparation work and class attendance.
Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program.
Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays.
Must agree to terms and conditions of the program.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelors degree preferred.
0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided.
