Boskalis is currently looking for a student to start their practical internship with us.
Geo department Global Engineering
The geo team is part of the Global Engineering department which is the engineering department within Boskalis Offshore Energy Division. The geo team covers three disciplines: geo engineering geotechnical engineering and GIS (Geographic Information Systems)..
As a Geo Engineer you will do work for several business units within Boskalis Offshore Energy but mostly for Subsea Cables. This business unit deals with cables projects for various offshore projects. Your work will have a focus on the renewables industry. The work comprises the burial aspects of cable installation. As Geo Engineer you will mostly be involved during tender stages but will also provide geo-engineering assistance and support during projects. With your knowledge of applied geology geophysics and geotechnics you will provide input that allows our business units to properly deal with geohazards and their mitigation and maximize opportunities.
As a Geotechnical Engineer you will do work mostly for our business unit Offshore Heavy Lift. This business unit deals with the engineering transport and installation of foundations for the offshore renewables industry. Your work comprises the geotechnical engineering aspects of foundation installation. As Geotechnical Engineer you will be involved during tender stages but will also provide geo-engineering consults during projects. With your knowledge of geotechnics you will provide input that allows our business units to properly deal with geohazards and their mitigation and maximize opportunities. For the foundation installation you will analyse provided engineering documents of the client perform pile driveability assessments on-bottom stability assessments third party designs of platforms and anchoring systems (e.g. suction caissons). For the installation of cable and pipelines you will perform burial assessment.
As GIS Engineer you will be responsible for collecting managing and analyzing spatial data. You will be the point of contact for internal clients for the various tenders and projects that require GIS support. On one hand you will have a focus on spatial data analysis from visualizing data via web browser to support solutions for project management and on the other hand focus on hands-on GIS deliverables for various projects. You will prepare maps charts and reports and maintain and update GIS databases. In a broader perspective you will assist in improving business processes with aid of GIS. Besides GIS a background in geoscience is preferred. With your knowledge of either geology geophysics or geotechnics you will provide input that allows our business units to properly deal with geohazards and their mitigation and maximize opportunities.
