Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire to assist with the appointment of a Procurement Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 18.66 - 24.60 per hour

Summary:

The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing and delivering the full end-to-end procurement process for low-risk and low/medium value contracts across a wide range of goods services and works. The role supports the Councils strategic and operational procurement objectives and ensures compliance with procurement legislation and internal governance standards.

This hybrid role requires a dependable and motivated individual with a strong understanding of public procurement and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders. Candidates should either hold a CIPS qualification be working toward one or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead procurement processes for quotes and tenders.
  • Work collaboratively with commissioners to define service specifications.
  • Conduct mini-competitions using existing national and local frameworks.
  • Support above-threshold tenders alongside senior procurement officers.
  • Produce contract award reports and necessary legislative documentation.

Qualifications:

  • CIPS qualification (completed or in progress) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A-levels or equivalent with at least 2 years of post-qualification commercial experience.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of EU procurement directives and UK procurement law.
  • Awareness of current trends and best practices in public sector procurement.
  • Demonstrable procurement experience in a complex organisation.
  • Experience managing procurement within a specific spend category.
  • Proven involvement in projects from initiation to successful delivery.
  • Familiarity with purchase order systems (e.g. SAP) and e-procurement platforms.
