Job Description

About the role:

This position is situated within Family Services team which forms apart of the Family & Community Programs at Mackillop. This position is based at the Dandenong office and involves outreach to families in the Southern Metro Region (City of greater Dandenong Casey & Cardinia) the position will also work closely with Early Help Family Services program so may involve working across the EHFS partner sites. The Senior IFS Practitioner reports to the Coordinator Integrated Family Services (IFS) and Early Help (EH).

IFS is responsible for providing high quality intensive and effective case work for vulnerable children young people and their families living in Southern Melbourne Area as allocated by The Orange Door. The Early Help Family Services Program aims to provide early intervention support to students and families accessing universal services such as schools to prevent the need for family services or statutory intervention. The program aims to meet families where they feel comfortable and engaged.

This is a Fixed Term Full Time 38 hours per week until 30.06.2027 opportunity based in Dandenong VIC within our Family & Community Services Program. The position reports to the Coordinator IFS & Early Help.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant work experience in a relevant field which supports an understanding of key child development issues relating to children young people and families
  • Highly developed skills in assessing risks needs and safety for whole of family
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication written verbal and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop collaborative relationships internal and external to the team
  • Demonstrated team building capacity and promoting a positive culture and in providing leadership and supervision for staff.
  • Understanding of and demonstrated experience working with issues such as attachment trauma and intergenerational disadvantage.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
