Based in the Child Youth & Emerging Adult Program the donor funded McCain Centre is focused on enhancing and improving the design delivery and effectiveness of mental health and substance use care systems services and policies for children and youth aged 6-25 through clinical and health services research. The McCain Centre combines established and innovative research techniques and includes a focus on ensuring youth and parent voices are centred in their initiatives. The McCain Centre is seeking a part-time contract (12 months) Research Assistant 2 to assist with an ongoing mixed-methods research project. Reporting to the Study Investigator and CAMH Chair Mental Health Nursing Research as well as the McCain Centre Manager the successful candidate will assist with the implementation of a mixed-methods longitudinal cohort study focused on post-secondary students accessing acute mental health services (NavigateCAMPUS). The NavigateCAMPUS Research Study aims to evaluate a navigation intervention based at CAMH that is designed to support University of Toronto students as they transition between hospital and campus-centered mental health care.

With guidance and support from the Study Investigator and project team the Research Assistant 2 will support participant recruitment and communication and will assist with the development of presentations and project reports for scientific and non-scientific audiences. Processing and entering dataupdating research databases performing quality control checks of research data organizing study files preparing data collection materials and performing other office duties as appropriate will be required. The Research Assistant 2 will also support the Study Investigator to facilitate an advisory group of postsecondary students with lived experience accessing hospital-based mental health services.

You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. This role will require travel and some evening hours. This position is located at 80 Workman Way.

The successful candidate will possessthree (3) years of community collegein a relevant programwithone (1) year relevant research experience. Experience in a mental health setting serving postsecondary students with mental health concerns is an asset. Experience with participant recruitment and qualitative and quantitative research methods is required. Strong data management skills are an asset including familiarity with REDCap and experience handling confidential data. Strong PC software skills including Microsoft Office (Word Access PowerPoint Excel) are required. Experience using quantitative statistical software such as SPSS or R and qualitative analysis tools like NVIVO is required. This position requires superior attention to detail. You will be well organized with the ability to meet deadlines to follow detailed protocolsand to work independently with minimal will possess superior interpersonal written and verbal communication and organization skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The candidate must demonstrate professionalism discretion and cultural competency while maintaining a well-developed understanding of the challenges faced by youth with mental health and substance use concerns. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of equitable environments and will support and implement anti-oppressive and anti-racist best practices in the workplace and with research participants youth and families. Knowledge of systemic issues related to equity diversity and inclusion and the ability to work with individuals with diverse identities and ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is crucial.
