POSITION: Paraeducator

Ocean Park Elementary

REPORTS TO:School Principal Erin Porro

APPLICATION DEADLINE:OUF

DATES: 2025-26 School Year

SALARY:Per CPEA 2024-25 Salary Schedule DOE ($21.26 - $32.65).

HOURS/DAYS: 6.5hours per day/5 days per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet Paraeducator minimum requirements: pass Paraeducator exam or 72 college quarter credits or AA or AS from accredited college.
  • Preferred: Experience working withchildren
  • Operating knowledge of computers
  • Must be able to pass fingerprint background check
  • Must be a willing and flexible worker

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General Functions:
Incorporate the school positive behavior supports in the managing of students
Ensure students follow safety procedures at all times
Provide reading interventions and supports as assigned by certificated teacher

Have knowledge of school and classroom rules procedures and practices

Have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment

Strong interpersonal skills and patience

Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged

Provide supervision for students who are assigned to In-School Suspension or who need a break from the regular classroom

Take daily attendance as needed Support the provision of a safe positive and orderly learning environment by maintaining behavioral expectations in all settings

Collect and prepare instructional and non-instructional materials under the direction of qualified teachers

Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and model appropriate behavior for student achievement personal growth and social development

Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and staff development sessions as directed by building principal

OTHER FUNCTIONS

Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop kneel crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The work environment is in a school that combines standard office equipment (fax copier phone computer 10-key etc.) with the standard school setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and occasionally high. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
