Job Description
This is skilled trades work mainly performing preventive maintenance work on electrical systems and devices and related fields such as air conditioning and heating systems. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Knowledge of the installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems. Skill in the installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems. Ability to install maintain and repair electrical systems. Ability to use a multimeter to test wires for proper voltage and continuity a ground fault detector to locate wire failures and a megmeter. Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly. Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints. Ability to plan organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to carry erect climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs cat walks and other elevated areas. Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe wire toolboxes etc.). Ability to understand and apply University rules regulations policies and procedures. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges. Visual ability corrected to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles. Ability to communicate information effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
