Surgical Technologist
- About Facility:
- Address: Cornelius - 1130 Tree of Life Lane Cornelius NC 28031
- 33 Beds
- No Trauma Designation
- Not a Teaching Hospital
- Not a Chest Pain Center
- Not currently Stroke accredited
- Radius rule: Travelers permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
- Unit Information:
- Beds: 4 LDRs; (1) C-section suite; 9 Mother Baby rooms
- Minimum Years of Experience required 1 year previous OB experience is preferred
- Will you accept a first-time traveler Yes
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Labor and Delivery; Postpartum
- Patient Ratios:
- OB Surg Tech: 1 per shift
- Required License National Certification Certs (BLS ACLS etc.) or other position specific requirements such as Drivers License and/or Insurance:
- BLS required
- Is national certification (CST) required No but preferred
- Graduation from an accredited program is required
- Surg Tech:
- Skills required:
- Surgical Tech: Ability to set up OR and maintain sterile technique throughout c-section deliveries; comfortability to assist physicians and team in vaginal deliveries
- Support within the Department:
- OB Surg Tech 1 per shift
- Receptionist/HUC patient registration visitor mgmt. and unit secretary duties
- Charge nurse
- Case Manager
- RT 24/7
- Hospitalist or OB Physician 24/7
- Anesthesia 24/7
- Pediatrician
- Lactation Consultants Not hired yet as this is a . and-new facility
- Nurses Station and bedside fetal monitoring
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Panda Warmer GE monitors/OBIX central monitoring
- Floating:
- None
- Orientation (facility and unit):
- New Employee/HR Orientation
- 1 day departmental dependent on skillset and comfort level
- Scheduling:

- Call back time: 30 min
- No sleep room available
- If call is required
- Weekend rotation: every other
- Call required for travelers: Potentially this will be a . and-new unit so staffing needs will be assessed
- Holiday Expectations: Will work holidays as scheduled
- RTO: Manager approval
