Lead Technical Product Owner - Neptune Design System

Ecolab is seeking a skilledLead Technical Product Ownerto drive the development and implementation of our Neptune Design System. Youll work at the intersection of design and development leading a cross-functional team to create a comprehensive component library that ensures consistency across our digital experiences. This role combines technical understanding product management expertise and project leadership to build a design system that transforms how we deliver products to our customers.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and own the roadmap for Neptune Design System components prioritizing based on business needs and technical considerations
• Lead a cross-functional team of UX designers and front-end developers coordinating their efforts to deliver high-quality design system components
• Leverage and integrate AI tools like Claude for code generation testing and component development
• Evaluate and select appropriate tools that enhance the teams efficiency in design system development
• Establish governance for the design system including contribution models versioning strategy and documentation standards
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand requirements and ensure the design system meets their needs
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for design system components and usage guidelines
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption of the design system
• Mentor and guide engineering resources in best practices for code creation and component development
• Promote the design system through presentations workshops and internal communications
• Track and report on design system metrics including adoption rates and impact on development efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Design or related field
• 5 years of experience in product management technical project management or related field
• Foundational understanding of front-end technologies including HTML CSS React and Angular
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma and code-to-design tools like
• Experience with design systems or component libraries
• Strong project management skills with the ability to create roadmaps manage dependencies and track progress
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with both designers and developers
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Experience with Agile methodologies and relevant project management tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience managing the development or implementation of a design system
• Experience leveraging AI tools for design or development workflows
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and how to implement them in design systems
• Understanding of design tokens and their implementation across multiple platforms
• Experience with component testing strategies and quality assurance for design systems
• Ability to create consensus among diverse stakeholders and drive adoption of new processes
• Experience with style guide creation and maintenance
• Knowledge of versioning strategies for component libraries
• Passion for the intersection of design and technology with a user-centered mindset
• Interest in collaborating with partners outside of core team / organization (including SMEs in the AI space)
• Ability to wear multiple hats and plug into different roles as the system develops
• Desire to be in a fast-moving agile environment with willingness to adjust quickly
