This positionis an advanced-level administrative position that performs a full range ofgeneral and specialized clerical and administrative procedures. It isdistinguished from lower-level clerical positions by its direct support oflarge departments upper-level managers or cabinet members across variouscomplex administrative functions. The position requires a thoroughunderstanding of office administration principles and the ability to exercisesound judgment and make effective decisions independently. The workresponsibilities include but are not limited to managing complex payrollsystems preparing monitoring and controlling departmental budgetspurchasing supplies and equipment coordinating personnel actions andperforming general administrative duties such as the preparation ofdepartmental reports and official documentation. The position also involvesmaintaining accurate record-keeping and filing systems and performingfinancial and basic bookkeeping functions including accounts payabledepartmental billing and payment processing. The work performed in thisposition is non-routine often cyclical and conducted under generalinstructions from a supervisor. The Senior Administrative Assistants typicallysupport supervisors managers or directors overseeing larger divisions orsmaller departments.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of responsibleadministrative experience which demonstrates comprehensive knowledge ofmultiple administrative functions such as payroll and financial dutiesmanaging department documentation purchasing goods and services and/orproviding administrative support to supervisors or managers.
A technical certification in OfficeAdministration or closely related area may substitute for one (1) year ofexperience. Advanced training in officeadministrative or closely related area is preferred at this level.
NOTE: Two (2)years experience as an Administrative Assistant will qualify for thisposition.
