The Senior Software Engineer will design and develop full stack solutions for PlayStation features on the PS5 other supported platforms and on the corresponding network services. They will provide strong technical knowledge experience and implementation efforts across the entire software stack. The ideal candidate will come from a strong object-oriented development background and be passionate about full stack and web technologies on both the front end and back end.
Role Responsibilities
- Architect and develop complex projects across multiple-teams and fields to deliver new and innovative features
- Extremely proactive and independent communicating with all relevant stakeholders on plans schedules and deliverables
- Collaborate with Product Owners Product Managers and Designers to understand feature requirements define technical requirements and develop new features
- Will have ownership of a technology common shareable features across a large project or on several small projects
- Produce excellent thorough design and development documentation
- Focus on Quality and strive to improve processes propose standard methodologies and drive their usage within the teams
- Partner with QA engineers to ensure test coverage and verify test plans that help deliver high quality features
- Write unit tests and component tests for features with key characteristics of stability and maintainability which prevent regressions in the product code
- Efficiently debug issues raised by internal and external users and work with the team to provide resolutions to these issues
- Support and mentor other team members and provide technical leadership by reviewing pull requests design plans and participate in architectural discussions
- Communicate on development strategy technical subjects related to software development frameworks and collaborate effectively with the globally distributed teams to achieve the business goals
- Ability to understand discuss and improve specifications to enhance the overall experience for players and game studio partners
Required Qualifications
- Must relocate to San Diego area
- Bachelors degree in computer science plus 5 years of experience or equivalent knowledge
- 5 years of solid programming experience in end-to-end development using HTML CSS JavaScript React Native Java core libraries and web server applications. Extensive object-oriented design and design patterns and passionate about writing high quality and well-architected code
- Experience in building high-performance and cloud-based scalable web services. Experience with design and implementation of modern web services architecture and API frameworks (REST/JSON). Experience with Amazon Web Services.
- Knowledge of MySQL Cassandra or another NoSQL database is preferred
- Strong understanding of engineering best practices requirement gathering and analysis design and develop secure and scalable code with unit tests partake in code reviews and documentation; experience with open source based technology stack
- Ability to handle periodic on-call duty as well as out-of-band requests

At SIE we consider several factors when setting each roles base pay range including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location.
