One year of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Six semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
55% Ensure the operational ability of each floodgate and floodwall. Cleans abrasive blasts pressure washes scrapes and brushes (both power and hand) steel and concrete surfaces in preparation for painting or sealing. Mixes paint and sealants and apply paints and other preservatives to surfaces using sprayers rollers pumps and brushes. Erects and dismantles scaffolding and safety nets. Inspects for painting needs; keeps appropriate records of materials used and time worked.
20% Operates various equipment such as winch truck hydro-blaster air compressor extrusion pump stake body truck abrasive blaster abrasive pot pressure washer forklift and bucket truck as required to support painting operations. May be responsible for levee repair work including signage replacement ramp improvements and other duties that are assigned to the special projects crew.
10% Performs drywall repairs needed at any of the SLFPA-E facilities within Orleans East Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes. Repairs include installation taping and floating drywall.
5% Assists in cleaning and maintenance of equipment including trucks air compressors abrasive blasters spray equipment pressure washers and other tools to enhance service life and promote safe operation.
5% Perform general repairs to SLFPAE facilities including but not limited to plumbing carpentry electrical flooring mechanical painting and other related fields.
5% Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor. Participates in required training.

This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG)and may be filled as a Maintenance Repair level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.
The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.

NOTE: The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East (SLFPA-E) is an emergency-oriented agency. Part of the SLFPAEs mission is to protect the residents of the east bank of Jefferson Parish St. Bernard Parish and the east bank of Orleans Parish from tidal surge wind-driven water and river flooding. In emergencies during Mississippi River flooding and Hurricane/Tropical storm events the incumbent will be on call and must report for duty if so required remaining on duty in such situations until released from duty by the Appointing Authority.
