Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is looking for an experiencedRegistered Nurse 1 to work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee School for the Blind (TN TSB) in Nashville TN. This is an on-site position working from 12:00 am to 7:30 am Monday through Fridayand the pay rate for this position is $46.50 per hour.
Registered Nurse Job Description:
Under general supervision the Registered Nurse will be responsible for registered nursing duties of average difficulty based on a wide range of circumstances and will perform related work as required. This is a 12-month position and hours can vary during the month of July and during all school breaks (fall winter spring) based on the needs of the school. This position may be assigned to work a different shift from the assigned shift temporarily depending on clinic needs.
Registered Nurse Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Providing nursing care and procedures according to the physicians orders and nursing protocol.
  • Assessing patients health administering medications as prescribed taking vital signs recording medical documentation in student files.
  • Evaluating possible side effects and the overall effectiveness of medication.
  • Implementing nursing plans of care by administering medication nursing treatments and patient education.
  • Performing BLS (basic life support) CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and other emergency responses.
  • Participating in emergency response settings for both students and staff.
  • Providing supportive emergency care and as needed one-on-one care for the following disease populations: seizure disorder diabetes Type I & II and insipidus adrenal insufficiency shunts asthmatic anaphylaxis gastrostomy tube ventilator and others that may not be listed depending on students enrolled at the time.
  • Performing initial and ongoing assessments according to protocol.
  • Collecting student clinic registration paperwork from parents and physicians including but not limited to health history emergency care plans medication orders physicals and consents.
  • Performing diagnostic tests on collected specimens to determine patients health status.
  • Discussing the students comprehensive health plan with other staff to identify the students needs.
  • Assigning job duties and activities to subordinates.
  • Counting and tracking drugs (narcotics) instruments and other accountable items.
  • Maintaining health care equipment supplies and inventory including maintaining all AEDs throughout the campus.
  • May supervise Licensed Practical Nurses or other staff up to 6 at a time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Other Registered Nurse Functions:
  • Attend student registration on assigned days one of which will be a Sunday.
  • Organize and participate in a yearly influenza vaccine clinic for students and staff (TSB & TSDN).
  • Organize and assist with yearly eye clinics for students as required by the State of Tennessee.
  • Perform yearly hearing screens on students.
  • Provide coverage by attending sporting events which may or may not include traveling during the school year.
  • Provide coverage for sporting events hosted by TSB over the weekend 24/7 while students are present on campus may include other state special school populations.
  • Provide coverage by attending off campus field trips during the school year depending on students attending the field trip.
  • Provide training to school staff on emergency medication and emergency response as required; turn in documentation to clinic director.

Education and Qualification Requirements for Registered Nurse position:
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing
OR
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee education equivalent to a diploma or associates degree in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing or bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing.
  • A valid drivers license
  • Have a driver record which does not include any of the following violations for the past five years: driving under the influence (DUI) reckless driving license suspension for moving violations or more than 4 moving violations.
