GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is an integral part of a team that manages and maintains facilities and lands owned and associated with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission. This position conducts maintenance and operation of all aspects of the Casper Regional Office buildings and grounds; conducts general upkeep custodial and maintenance services; prepares bid specifications; reviews contracts and bids for maintenance performed by contractors; acts as the contact person for contract work. Additionally this position provides habitat expertise on state federal and private lands by means of coordination with various land managers to increase the quantity and quality of habitat for aquatic and terrestrial species. The work is mainly on Wildlife Habitat Management Areas (WHMA) and Public Access Areas (PAA) within the Casper Region.

This position will be responsible for regional office maintenance needs. This may include irrigation noxious weed treatment carpentry electrical HVAC and plumbing.

This position is responsible for habitat data collection analysis and interpretation as well as the development and funding for habitat enhancements. This position develops and maintains effective working relationships with contractors local state and federal agencies landowners sportspersons and various NGOs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Maintains facilities including repair and/or oversight of repair of the facilitys heating/cooling system plumbing lighting and electrical systems
  • Performs routine custodial services including but not limited to trash disposal vacuuming restroom cleaning tile cleaning interior and exterior window cleaning interior and exterior painting
  • Assembles and moves office furniture hangs artwork wildlife mounts and other decorative items
  • Sets up and takes down meeting room furniture for various meetings
  • Performs preventive maintenance on facility buildings and grounds
  • Performs and oversees lawn and landscape care including mowing raking fertilizing and watering; maintains sprinkler system; trims trees and plants and performs other landscape work
  • Responsible for ice and snow removal using snow blower -ton pickup with plow shovel and salt
  • Oversees services provided by independent contractors
  • Assists with facility maintenance budget development and prioritization supply purchasing and fiscal processing
  • Position makes recommendations and justifications for facility upgrades
  • Manages equipment logs and ensures proper maintenance schedules
  • Each WHMA may have wildlife habitat improvements recreation improvements irrigation systems wetland complexes fences Department buildings roads and parking areas signs and numerous other improvements
  • Each PAA may have parking areas with recreational improvements such as roads comfort stations car barriers boat docks fishing piers parking pads and signs
  • This position will work on projects that improve or develop aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitats within the state
  • Position will be responsible for road maintenance irrigation and infrastructure weed identification and herbicide application wetland and water manipulation management fence conversions construction maintenance facility maintenance and upgrades and other land management practices
  • Responsible for weed control; maintains record of pesticide applications
  • Position makes recommendations on the planning design and implementation of aquatic and terrestrial habitat enhancements
  • Plan and budget to accomplish goals as outlined in the WGFD Strategic Habitat Plan regional habitat priorities and Statewide Habitat Plan
  • Responsible for reviewing monitoring various maintenance contracts for road work comfort station cleaning noxious weed control and other construction activities
  • Solicits bids submits purchase requisitions and makes purchases and submits invoices for vendor payments. Follows all fiscal procedures and accurately completes all necessary forms
  • Responsible for the care safety maintenance and repairs of 4x4 pickups commercial trucks a variety of lawn and garden equipment hand and power tools trailers heavy equipment farm equipment and implements ATVs and other position-related equipment
  • Attend training to further education on current techniques and issues of importance in wildlife management facility maintenance and management
  • Represent WGFD through interaction with the public and landowners to promote WGFD and other partnering programs

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


The Department may give preference to those with a bachelors degree in wildlife management range management ecology biology zoology agriculture or equivalent experience.
