ROLE of the POSITION
Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Director of Administrative Services. CAPS is an IACS-accredited center within the Student Wellness unit that also includes the departments of health center CARE center wellness education disability resource center office of student rights and responsibilities and military and veterans services. This is a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic and integrated service delivery model that offers comprehensive wellness services to a diverse student population. CAPS maintains multiple training programs including an APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship in Health Services Psychology a psychiatric residency program and a practicum training program. This is a full-time 12-month position.
The Associate Director (AD) of Administrative Services under the direction of the CAPS Executive Director assists in the leadership and management of CAPS. The AD of Administrative Services collaborates effectively with other members of the CAPS leadership team including the Associate Director of Clinical Services and the Associate Director of Training. CAPS exists to assist students to enhance their psychological health and personal effectiveness thus empowering them to maximize their academic accomplishment university involvement and personal adjustment. The AD position participates in planning coordination and implementation of CAPS processes and organizational design. The AD has as primary responsibilities the supervision of clinical senior staff and the oversight and management of certain satellite services. The AD of Administrative Services also provides oversight for CAPS Outreach Social Media & Technology and Wellness Promotion. The AD ensures that policies and practices are in accordance with safe effective and professional conduct state and federal laws and mandates licensure requirements accreditation standards and UNLV/ Nevada System of Higher Education mandates. Additionally the AD is responsible to ensure that the CAPS Student Wellness Unit Division of Student Affairs and University philosophies and standards are universally disseminated and adhered to. In the absence of the CAPS Executive Director the AD of Administrative Services along with the Associate Director of Clinical Services and Associate Director of Training may act on behalf of the Director. The AD also provides direct clinical services such as individual therapy group therapy psychological assessment crisis intervention educational programming and consultation with the university community. The AD completes accurate and timely documentation and acknowledges the unique characteristics of each client and provides respectful professional clinical care to our diverse UNLV population.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires aDoctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a closely related fieldfrom an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and2-3 years of related professional experience as well as at least one year of administrative supervision and managerial experience. Candidates are required to be licensed as a Psychologist and attain licensure as a Psychologist within Nevada by the start date. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. All candidates must pass a background screening. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants from an APA-Accredited doctoral program and doctoral internship are preferred. Three years of comparable supervisory and managerial experience are preferred as is supervisory and managerial experience in a university counseling center setting. The successful candidate will have strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills competency in working with a diverse student population demonstrated skills in administrative supervision and management and flexibility to manage multiple competing demands
Additional preferences for this leadership position include (1) clinical and training experience with progressive administrative/supervisory responsibilities; (2) knowledge of and experience working in an integrated service delivery model (3) demonstrated experience with telehealth brief therapy and step-care treatment (4) demonstrated multicultural competence in all areas of service delivery including supervision and training; (4) success in working with a multidisciplinary treatment team; (5) strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention experience and (6) excellent oral written and interpersonal skills.
