What is the compensation
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

What are the main duties
Initiate and track payment arrangements or installment plans with delinquent account holders.
Contact customers via phone email or mail regarding outstanding balances.
Prepare and maintain detailed records of all collection activities.
Demonstrate professionalism and empathy in customer interactions.
Maintain and update customer account information in relevant databases.
Collaborate with utility billing customer service and finance departments to resolve account discrepancies.
Recommend accounts for further collection actions such as liens utility shutoffs or external collection agency referrals.
Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes related to collections.
Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive customer financial information.
Process returned bank items.
What do I need to apply
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
1 year of call center or collections experience.
2 years of customer service experience.
Knowledge of utility billing preferred.
Spanish language skills preferred.
What is the schedule
This position is Monday through Thursday; hours are not to exceed 25 hours a week.
What are the physical and environmental factors
This position involves sitting at a computer for extended periods of time while maintaining concentrated attention to detail. This position has regular interactions with members of the public. May involve high-stress interactions with customers who are irate often in confrontational situations.
What is the selection process
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted with the first screening being held on June 23 2025. Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
