JOB DEFINITION:
The Youth or Family Workforce Senior Peer Outreach Specialist plays a key role in advancing peer support and engagement strategies for youth and families navigating behavioral health systems. This position draws on lived experience to promote peer involvement support workforce development and increase community awareness of youth mental health and the value of peer advocacy. The Specialist will collaborate with grassroots organizations to identify and engage individuals with lived experience who are interested in becoming credentialed Youth or Family Peer Advocates.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certification as a Youth Peer Advocate or Family Peer Advocate (or both) preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in peer support outreach or community education.
- Experience in facilitating trainings or educational sessions.
- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and communities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Zoom and other communication tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities preferred.
- Knowledge of local and state-level mental health systems and youth/family advocacy resources preferred.
- Experience managing or administering incentive programs or stipends preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Outreach & Engagement
- Conduct outreach to community organizations youth and families to increase awareness of peer support programs.
- Identify and connect with individuals and groups interested in peer training and credentialing.
- Partnership Development
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community-based organizations mental health providers and other stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at public events meetings and forums.
- Training & Education
- Facilitate or co-facilitate training sessions workshops and informational webinars.
- Provide support and guidance to peers seeking Youth Peer Advocate or Family Peer Advocate certification.
- Credentialing Support
- Guide peer professionals through the application and credentialing process.
- Track progress and maintain documentation for credentialing milestones.
- Incentive & Tracking
- Support the implementation and administration of a stipend-based incentive system for participants.
- Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of outreach training and certification outcomes.
- Communications
- Deliver targeted awareness-building communications using print digital and social media tools.
- Assist in the development of outreach and promotional materials.
- Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress
- Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.
