Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on shop-floor oriented Quality Leader within our Assemblies and Components Value stream based in Preston. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving improvement of our quality performance ensuring conformity of production and customer satisfaction. This is a problem-solving-focused role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced technically complex environments. Leading and developing people to build a high-performing quality team will be a central focus for this high-profile position within Baxi.
As a Quality Leader you will:
- Lead mentor and develop the Quality Team fostering a collaborative high-performance culture focused on excellence ownership and continuous improvement
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with the wider business team to drive the objectives of the business forward
- Manage resource planning team performance and individual development plans to build both technical capabilities and leadership potential within the department
- Champion the Voice of the Customer (VoC) by analysing and integrating customer feedback complaints and warranty data into continuous improvement initiatives
- Investigate product and process issues using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D 5 Whys FMEA and Ishikawa
- Drive timely and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues and reduce product non-conformances
- Manage supplier quality performance and concerns impacting the value stream
- Lead the development and maintenance of the shop floor Quality Systems in line with ISO 9001 product safety regulations and industry-specific standards (e.g. BS EN standards for gas appliances)
- Provide strong support to NPD launch operations and Engineering Changes (ECR).
- Ensure full compliance of production according to the process control documentation e.g. Control Plan
- Track and report on quality performance (KPIs) including Rolled Throughput Yield Scrap Rework cost of non-quality and audit outcomes using insights and data analysis to drive continual improvement
- Deputise for the UK Head of Quality and work with autonomy and minimum supervision
Essential:
- Demonstratable experience in a quality supervisory role in a regulated manufacturing sector
- Proven experience in leading complex problem-solving activities and realising robust corrective/preventive actions
- Profound knowledge and understanding of quality core tools
- Proven ability to manage and close out audits quality incidents and non-conformances
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
Desirable:
- Degree in Engineering Quality Manufacturing or a related technical discipline
- Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
- Experience in an operational role
- Experience within a lean manufacturing environment such as the automotive industry
- Previous engagement in companywide transformation programs and product/project launch activities
