Job Description
Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) is a dynamic progressive organization that supports the government in its ongoing dialogue with British Columbians. GCPE leads and coordinates government communications and public engagement through three divisions: Strategic Communications Communications Operations and Corporate Priorities.
The Role
As a Public Affairs Officer you would provide a range of professional communications expertise and services for the assigned ministry. The Public Affairs Officer prepares diverse written communication materials develops communication plans and provides issues management advice event coordination support and media relations expertise.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. journalism public relations communications public policy political science English writing or another communications-focused discipline); ORa certificate or diploma in journalism or communications AND
- At least one (1) year of*related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education training and experience may also be considered.
*Related work experience is defined as a combination of all of the following:
- Experience in public relations communications and/or media relations within anorganization.
- Experience developing a variety ofcommunications products for internal or public audiences.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
- Experience in reactive communications such as crisis communications media relations issues management or social community management.
- Three or more years of communications-related work experience.
- A bachelors degree in journalism or a communications-related discipline.
