GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Staff Technician to support statewide maintenance operations. This position serves as the primary coordinator for Agile Assets implementation environmental permitting legal liaison activities winter maintenance planning and executive-level initiatives. Additional responsibilities include preparing the district budget manuals audits and special projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

  • May travel in the field and provide expertise in particular areas for the specialized needs of WYDOT.
  • Utilize technical programs such as Agile Assets and Asset Essentials and other agency-specific programs.
  • Work with maintenance crews to develop budgetary needs with supporting documents and research.
  • Support maintenance crews with procurement of materials equipment rentals and purchasing contracts.
  • Provide support for the maintenance hot plant and paving operations including bid documents scheduling and training coordination.
  • Maintain CDL and perform plow operations as needed
  • Provide support documentation and development for On The Job Training (OJT) for various equipment and tools utilized by the District crews which includes development of the OJT and the Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Provide support to the District Safety Representative for CPR training meeting coordination and JSA development.
  • Provide guidance documentation and coordinate Behind the Wheel Training for District employees and BTW Trainers.
  • Provide support for the District Facilities program by performing a variety of tasks such as attending pre-bid meetings assisting with routine billing performing Preventive Maintenance inspections and documenting in Asset Essentials training other team members on the use of Asset Essentials.
  • Provide backup support for the District Senior Staff Technician performing permitting and licensing when needed.
  • Plan and conduct meetings such as the District AMS/Foremans meeting Quad State Meeting and Pre-Pave meetings.
  • May have the authority to make purchases to accomplish their job.

Qualifications


KNOWLEDGE:



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in TransportationOccupational Groups)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Staff Technician II

OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Staff Technician II

  • **Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus
    • Temporary employees accepting a full-time position.
    • Employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.
    • One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive and funds will be recouped from final pay.
    • Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
    • Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
    • If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period they would be required to pay the bonus back.
