Job Description
A highly regarded intellectual property law firm is seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join its patent practice group focused on electrical engineering computer engineering and computer science technologies. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated attorney to work on complex patent portfolios and innovation strategy under the mentorship of senior partners who have advised high-tech clients supported M&A due diligence and led high-stakes post-grant and litigation proceedings.
Position Overview
The primary focus of this role is patent preparation and prosecution in EE/CS-related technologies with opportunities to support post-grant proceedings freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses litigation support and IP due diligence. Attorneys in this group work closely with emerging companies global technology leaders and venture-backed startups across a wide range of fast-moving technology sectors. The position offers a hybrid schedule based in Washington DC with remote flexibility considered for qualified candidates.
Technical Focus
Clients span industries such as:
Telecommunications and wireless systems
Computer software and user interface technologies
Semiconductors and processing systems
Artificial intelligence and machine learning
Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies
Cybersecurity and authentication systems
Digital media streaming and content distribution
Medical imaging and image processing systems
Attorneys in this group regularly advise on strategic patent portfolio development licensing and transactions and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings often in parallel with litigation. Requirements
Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or Computer Science
2 4 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
USPTO registration required
Strong academic credentials
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to thrive in a collaborative client-facing environment

Salary range: $235000 $310000 depending on the responsibilities of the position and the experience education and skills of the candidate
