Who You Are
As a Battery Engineer in the Battery Engineering team youll be an integral part of the team working to usher in the next generation of electric vehicles. Youll work across technical teams and with business partners to design experiments analyze data and create robust plans to meet our goals and support our Automotive customer programs. Youre an experienced hands-on team-oriented engineer with a desire to help deploy the next generation of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Own technical success of multiple automotive customer programs
- Design carry out and analyze experiments to test the performance of cells made using Silas materials against automotive customer requirements
- Effectively communicate ideas plans and results externally to customers and internally across diverse Sila teams
- Facilitate technical collaboration between groups at Sila and with external customers
- Invest in our company values and vision and champion them as we grow
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Ability to carefully plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong technical background experience with lithium-ion batteries is a plus
- Exceptional communication abilities with both internal groups and external customers direct experience in a customer facing role is a plus
- Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design driven by curiosity and attention to detail
- Understanding of lab safety best practices
- Experience taking products out of the lab and into the market is a plus
- At least a B.S. in engineering or science and 5 years of experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree)
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to a lab coat gloves safety glasses and steel toe safety shoes
- Operate a computer and other office equipment such as a laptop copier/printer etc in a fixed location
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Up to 20% domestic and international travel as needed
Regular Shift: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm
The starting base pay for this role is between $128000 and $191000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors such as education experience and skills. Base pay is only one part of Silas competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits perks equity and bonuses.
