Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
HSC Winnipeg is seeking a qualified and motivated summer student to fill a Student Archivist position within the HSC Archives/Museum. This position is made possible by a grant from Young Canada Works the successful candidate must be eligible for Young Canada Works sponsorship.
HSC Archives/Museum holds corporate records and artifacts related to Health Sciences Centre. It seeks to preserve and celebrate our remarkable heritage by collecting materials that embody the history of the organization and the people who have worked or studied here.
Working under the direction of the HSC Archivist the Student Archivist will process (accession appraise arrange and describe) non-medical records into the collection using Rules for Archival Description (RAD) Access to Memory (AtoM) and PastPerfect (Museum software). Other duties may include processing transfers and donations cataloguing artifacts providing research and support for heritage-related projects and answering reference questions.
- Enrollment in a recognized Archives Studies program related graduate University degree program or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Working knowledge of database systems preferred.
- Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written) required.
- Experience working in an archival setting and experience in arrangement and description of archival collections preferred.
- Strong organizational communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to work accurately and independently.
